TNM in 30th anniversary, touts growth, innovation
TNM plc on Thursday celebrated 30 years of innovation, growth and service in Malawi, touting its role as a key driver of the country’s digital transformation.
Speaking during the anniversary celebration in Blantyre under the theme ‘30 years of growth and connection’, TNM plc chief executive officer Michel Hebert described the milestone as a story of empowerment, innovation and national progress.

He highlighted TNM’s contributions over the past three decades, including K1 trillion invested in network infrastructure, K45 billion paid in taxes last year, with over K50 billion expected this year and full reinvestment of profits into the country’s economy.
The Malawi Stock Exchange-listed firm, which is 100 percent Malawian-owned, has evolved from being the country’s first mobile operator to a provider of digital and financial services.
“Our 30-year milestone is not just about how far we have come, it is about the lives we have touched, the communities we have empowered and the future we continue to build for Malawi,” said Hebert.
In his remarks, Minister of Information and Communications Technology Shadric Namalomba commended TNM plc for being a true partner in development, noting its strong contribution to the country’s socio-economic development.
“Through connection, TNM has driven inclusion, empowered small businesses, strengthened families and supported national development through technology. This is what 30 years of growth and connection truly means,” he said.
During the event, TNM plc announced new innovations, including unlimited Internet through fixed wireless access for homes and businesses and an upgraded TNM Mpamba platform to expand digital financial services and deepen financial inclusion.
